ASUS unveils new G74 gaming laptop Posted: 20 Jun 2011 01:00 AM PDT Check out the latest gaming offer from ASUS, the G74. Unlike Dell’s Alienware lineup, ASUS tend to introduce more subtle designs for their gaming lappies, like the G74 pictured.   Available for pre-ordering immediately, the G74 comes in two configurations, with the only difference residing in its display. Both features a quad-core Core i7-2630QM CPU, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M graphics with 3GB of video memory, 12GB DDR3 RAM (out of 16GB), dual 750GB 7200RPM drives, 1080p display, a Blu-ray player, backlit keyboard, and a USB 3.0. socket (along with three of the 2.0 variety).   The gallery below features the G74SX-A1 which boasts a pricetag of $1,745, while the other configuration dubbed the G74SX-3DE, will cost slightly more at $1,979 offering a 3D display. Lookout Premium makes surfing with Android devices safer Posted: 19 Jun 2011 11:23 PM PDT There are all sorts of malicious apps, viruses and scams online, especially if you're accessing the internet with your smartphone for more personally tasks such as online banking, but luckily, there's a way to keep yourself safe even while you're surfing the web with your mobile device. Company Lookout and Sprint have launched Lookout Premium Safe Browsing for Android phones that should protect you from phishing scams and other online threats. This app comes with Safe Browsing feature that will protect you at all times by scanning URLs that you visit. That way, this app will warn you about websites that may endanger your safety and privacy online. Since this app offers you a decent amount of protection, you can feel more at ease when surfing, sending emails and text messaging about your safety and privacy. In addition, since this app is cloud-based, the database of malicious URLs is constantly being updated, so you don't have to worry about updating as well. Lookout Premium is unfortunately not free and costs $29.99 a year or $2.99 a month, but there's also a free version from the Android Market that doesn't have the Safe Browsing feature, so you can try that one as well.
