Peter Jackson Gives Hobbit Casting Update Posted: 19 Jun 2011 05:48 PM PDT Being the “Father” of the Hobbit movies, Peter Jackson gave the a great Father’s Day gift today as he gave an official casting update and discussed some of the recent movements in the Hobbit movie. As we announced last week, Luke Evans and Benedict Cumberbatch have joined the hobbit cast. In addition to these, Jackson also confirmed the additions of Evangeline Lilly and Barry Humphries. Lilly has been casted to fill the role of Tauriel, “The Daughter of Mirkwood.” He also clarified that there is no romantic connection to Legolas, but that was the only hint he gave. Humphries has been casted to play the digital role of The Goblin King. Much like Anyd Serkis, Humphries will be wearing the motion capture suit and bring the character to life. Jackson gave a lot of praise to Humphries and said he is excited to have him aboard. Here is the full text of Jackson’s announcement:
