Cool Beans!

Maddie and I had a lovely time visiting this relatively new playhouse for children on the southwest side of town.  We met my ESL student, Heehwa and her 2 year old daughter Annabel, last week for a chance to talk and play.  Heehwa felt our break from ESL class was far too long and so she wanted to get together over the break.  We were going to meet at a playground but when I looked at the forecast and saw the prediction for snow and low teens temperatures Heehwa suggested Cool Beans Playhouse & Cafe.

We had both never been there and were pleased by the bright and cheerful atmosphere, the age appropriate toys and physical play features, and the plethora of healthy menu choices for adults and children at their café.  It looks like they have some fun parties for young children…they had a New Years party and are planning a Valentine’s party with bubbles and a DJ.  The play area is geared towards children from 1 year to 8 years old and costs $6 for that age group…0-6 month olds are free, as are 9 year olds and older.

Heehwa and I had a chance to catch up on what had been happening with each other over the Christmas holiday while Maddie had fun following Annabel around as she climbed the tree house, slid down the slide, hung on the ropes above the soft and squishy foam pit, drove the car, and played in the kitchen. 

Maddie and I decided that we would love to come back and play…we just need a friend who has a young child so we have a good excuse to access the super-cool beans-playhouse and café.
