Sudden mouth symptoms, diagnosis please?

Over the past six or seven months I suddenly began getting really dry lips that came and went pretty frequently. I'm not dehydrated, I've used and still use chapstick all the time so I don't know what triggered it. Yesterday my lips were especially dry and itchy, and this morning it was all of that combined plus pretty swollen. The right corner of my mouth also gets cracked and lightly bleeds sometimes. AND my gums suddenly got 'sensitive' and bleed randomly as well. OH! and this morning also I noticed the inside of my right cheek felt warm and slippery, more than usual lol, so I looked at it and its red. I take great care of my teeth and my lips so I have no idea whats happening! All ive been using on them is chapstick and a&d ointment, and recently hydrocortisone cream. Any suggestions?

It's perfectly okay to use chapstick because it is good for lips to stay hydrated. But if you find yourself applying it all the time, you may have a chapstick addiction. Chapstick addiction can be brought on psychologically or physically.

Try to train yourself to stop thinking about your lips because they are very sensitive areas of the body. The mind is powerful and can influence our bodies physically.

Make sure you do not have a habit of licking your lips frequently. Licking your lips over and over can actually cause your lips to get dry in the long run, creating a need for chapstick.

Don't rub, wipe, or pick at your lips. These actions can create irritations and chapping that can lead to dryness and the need to apply chapstick.

A final way to fight chapstick addiction is to try using a different brand or type of lip balm. Getting a better moisturizer or going all natural might help you not need to apply chapstick as often.

The main ingredient in Chapstick is petroleum, and it is not very good for you. Try switching it up to a natural lip moisturizer, such as the one Burt's Bees makes.

I would not use hydrocortisone on your lips. It is not for use on mucus membranes, eyes, lips, nose..its an anti inflammatory
