Mesothelioma Guides: I have bad headaches with other symptoms- diagnosis?

For the past three years or so I have occasionally had really bad headaches. Two years ago I had a CT scan done- everything was fine. Last August the headaches really began to pick up. They are sometimes on the right side, sometimes the left, sometimes just everywhere. Sometimes the headaches feel like actual pain/ache when other times the headache feels like there's a numbness in my head. Also, in August, I began noticing that every time I stood up (from sitting, laying, etc) I would experience my vision going out.. like where some of my vision is black and it is hard to focus on anything for a few seconds. My headaches have been consistent over the months, appearing at least once a week, sometimes more. Within the past three weeks, though, I have started to worry. Sometimes I feel as though my brain is "slowing down". For example - I want to reach for a glass of juice and i know what i want to do but it's like my brain can't tell my body what i want it to do. The same thing with speaking. I want to say something but my mind is slow/numb and i can't get any words out for a few minutes. it is very hard to describe. Twice last week the same thing happened and i couldnt stand or speak. i just slowly slouched to the ground and then was fine a few minutes later. Today, I had a horrible headache on my left side. I stood up to get something in class and while i was walking, I blacked out to where I had no vision and slowly fell into a chair. it only lasted fifteen seconds maybe but when my vision started to come back, i could feel my whole body tingle (like the feeling when your foot is asleep) and I have no idea what happened. I plan on seeing a neurologist next week but I was looking for anyone who might know what I'm experiencing. I'm always cold and always tired, too. Thanks for the help

It does sound that it is most likely to be something neurological especially considering that you said that you get a tingling feeling. But there are other things to think about as well. Make sure you are drinking plenty and eating. Get up slowly and not too fast and that might help. Sometimes not drinking or eating enough or getting up too quick can cause spots in your vision and faintness. I have mild asthma and breathing trouble due to acid reflux and I have found that if I am not breathing well on a particular day, I will sometimes find myself with a brain fog and a headache. So you may want to make sure you are breathing well.

Another thing to think about is a food allergy, especially to aspartame! Aspartame is often used in diet sodas etc (it is an artifical sweetener). This food allergy can cause neuropathy (including a tingling sensation) and more headaches (ranging from a mild dull ache to horrible migraine). Some people also have problems with msg in foods. Migraines can cause visual disturbances and faintness as well if they are bad enough and they can be caused by a variety of things including tension.

Overall though, I think that you are on the right path to figuring this out. A neurologist is most likely to help with your symptoms but make sure not to neglect to tell them things. Try to think of as many details about your condition as you can because every symptom is a clue! Good Luck!
